Belmont Bloodstock were active at the Tattersalls Breeding Stock Sale purchasing one mare at the iconic December Sale.

The weather wasn’t as cold as it can be in Newmarket in December but as usual the market was hot.  As daylight faded on Tuesday afternoon, Belmont Bloodstock signed for their sole lot of the sale.

Together with leading Victorian farm Woodside Park, they secured Lot 1860 REBEL ASSAULT for 120,000 guineas.  REBEL ASSAULT is a stakeswinner at 2 years old over 1200m.  Trained by Mark Johnson, the speedy filly won the Rockingham Stakes at York in impressive fashion.  A daughter of Excelebration from a Grand Slam mare, she is from the family of champion colt Oratorio.

Rebel Assault makes a valuable addition to Woodside Park’s quality broodmare band and as a source of Danehill line speed, she is ideally suited to their Champion stallion Written Tycoon.  With racing upside left, she will have a preparation in Melbourne with the hope of adding some Australian black type prior to the breeding season.
