City Double for Arc Sale Graduates

By September 2, 2013General

The impressive victories of Prince Cheri and Lidari gave ARQANA’s Arc Sale a Melbourne-Sydney double on Saturday.

The Arc Sale, held on the eve of the Arc De Triumph is France’s answer to the increasingly popular tried horse sale.  It is an unreserved sale and ARQANA source proven gallopers with unlimited potential from all over Europe.

Prince Cheri won the Ranvet Handicap (1500m) at Rosehill in eye-catching style and left his trainer David Vandyke feeling very optimistic for the stallion’s spring campaign.

“I’ve always had a huge wrap on this horse, I’m aiming him at the Caulfield Cup,” Vandyke said.

“He proved he was adaptable today and he is a horse who is only going to keep improving and progressing through his preparation.

“It’s easy to forget he has only had five lifetime starts and is a five-year-old so the best for him is still to come.”

Prince Cheri (FR) was purchased last October for 65,000 Euros from the draft of Melbourne and Caulfield Cup winning trainer Mikel Delzangles.  The five year old lightly raced son of Lando has now had three starts in Australia for two wins and a third.

Completing the Arc Sale double was Lidari who saluted in the well-known OTI racing colours in the BMW Handicap (1400m) at Caulfield.

Lidari was purchased by De Burgh Equine for OTI Racing at last year’s Arc Sale for 95,000 Euros.  Lidari was formerly raced in France by the Aga Khan Stud’s.  By European sire sensation Acclamation, Lidari won three listed races in France prior to coming to Australia where he is trained by Peter Moody.

Peter Moody is still to decide on a definite race plan for Lidari but he holds nominations for the Epsom Handicap, Caulfield Cup and Cox Plate.

Arc Sale Graduates look like they may play a serious role in Melbourne this spring with several other purchases to step out in the coming weeks.  One of the most exciting horses of the moment Puissance De Lune was purchased by Robert Roulston at the 2011 Arc Sale.

This year’s Arc sale will be held on the 5th of October in Saint-Cloud, Paris.  ARQANA are in the final stages of completing the catalogue and it will be available in the coming weeks.  To register your interest, please contact ARQANA’s Australian representative Damon Gabbedy of Belmont Bloodstock damon@belmontbloodstock.com.
