Ron Sayer’s of Western Australia’s Yarradale Stud Farm continued his run of success with mares purchased from Darley when Haussmann won the 2YO race Caulfield on Saturday.
Haussmann is by Darley stallion Commands from Wynciti, a mare that Belmont Bloodstock purchased on Sayer’s behalf for $10,000 at the Inglis Easter Broodmare Sale last year. Haussmann won the 1200m 2YO handicap in impressive style and looks like he is a colt going places which is great news for Ron as there will hopefully be more lucrative pedigree updates for the mare.
Ron was attracted to the former Darley mare Wynciti as she is by Yarradale Stud’s resident stallion Citidancer. Citidancer has impressed Ron as a broodmare sire so he was keen to secure another mare by the USA son of Lomond.
Ron has had a great run of success with mares purchased from Darley. He has La Melba who is the dam of Group 2 winning mare Raspberries. Also amongst the Yarradale broodmare band is Verse, the dam of multiple group winner Lamersay.
Yarradale Stud are holding their annual yearling sale at the farm this Sunday 20th May. The sale features an outstanding line up of yearlings by Champion stallion Lonhro, Dubawi, Street Sense and Commands. WA stallions are also well represented. One of the highlights of the sale is Lot 15, a filly by Strategic from La Melba making her a half sister to Raspberries.
