Since 2008, Damon Gabbedy of Belmont Bloodstock Agency has been the Australian & New Zealand representative of ARQANA.

Damon’s role as the Australasian representative is to promote French Racing and Breeding within Australia & New Zealand and to assist interested parties to purchase bloodstock from the French sales.

We are passionate about French racing and the wonderful opportunities for breeders to purchases fillies and mares from classical European pedigrees and spread their unparalleled influence within Australia.

Damon attends the August Yearling Sale, the Arc Sale for tried racing prospects and December Breeding Stock Sale annually. Damon and his team provide many services including assistance with:

1. Accommodation & travel arrangements
2. Selection and inspection of relevant lots as per client requirements
3. Veterinary examinations
4. Pedigree & raceform analysis
5. Travel rebates for purchasers
6. Transport for purchased horses (both domestic and international)
7. Registration for horses remaining in France to race

Arqana is the French Thoroughbred auction house that operates horse auctions including the Ventes de Deauville, one of the world’s largest auctions for thoroughbred yearlings held in August of each year in Deauville, France.

Created by the merger of auctioneers L’Agence Française de Vente du Pur-sang and Goffs France, Arqana is headed by chairman Georges Rimaud. The company’s majority shareholder is the Aga Khan IV, France’s biggest thoroughbred owner-breeder. A consortium of French breeders owns approximately 30 percent with the remainder owned by Artcurial, the art auction house subsidiary of the Dassault Group.
