Press Release Monday 25 March 2013

2013 ARQANA BREEZE UP SALE:

135 TWO YEAR OLDS ELIGIBLE FOR THE BREEZE UP JACKPOT- INCLUDING THREE BY SEA THE STARS
On Saturday 11 May 2013 from 2pm, Saint Cloud racecourse will host the 2013 renewal of the

ARQANA Breeze Up Sale. The breezes will take place on the eve of the sale, Friday 10 May from

11am on the racecourse’s turf track. The catalogue, which is now online at www.arqana.com, is made

up of 135 two year olds, including 78 which are born and bred in France or assimilated as such.

Year after year, the ARQANA Breeze Up produces talented horses which go on to win at Group level

both in France and abroad. In 2012 the sale produced its first Classic winner in Poule d’Essai des

Poulains (Gr.1) winner Lucayan. Also graduates of the 2012 Breeze Up, Pearl Flute and Waterway

Run both went on to make their mark at Group level, the former taking the Prix des Chênes (Gr.3)

while the second won the Oh So Sharp Stakes (Gr.3) at Newmarket. Now three, they both hold

Classic entries in France and Great Britain, as do other graduates from the same sale, including Tuna

Papita, Kyurem, Varega as well as Flanders Blues to name just a few.

This year’s Breeze Up Sale has an added attraction in that any horse sold at this sale will be able to

take part in the Breeze Up Jackpot, a 200,000 challenge which is financed solely by ARQANA

Any two year old graduate of the sale to win one of the 10 maidens selected for the

challenge (all taking part on French soil) will pocket 10,000 on top of the win prizemoney. Added to

this, ARQANA will offer a super jackpot worth 100,000 to the first two year old to follow up a

victory in one of these maidens with a win at Listed or Group level in France that same season.

Very attractive maternal pedigrees

The 2013 catalogue brings together some fantastic pedigrees with no less than 66 two year olds out of

black type mares or mares which have already produced black type horses. Chief among these is;

Lot 22, consigned by Kilminfoyle House Stud, and the result of a mating between Galileo and Pipalong,

winner of the Haydock Sprint Cup (Gr.1) and dam of Walk On Bye, winner of the Anglesey St. (Gr.3)

and third in the Phoenix St. (Gr.1). One year on from the sale of Classic hope Pearl Flute, it will be

the turn of his half sister,

lot 36, to go through the ring at Saint-Cloud. By exciting young stallion

Lawman, this filly is consigned by Haras du Saubouas, as is

lot 85, a Sky Mesa (by Pulpit and winner of a Group 1 at two) half sister to the three year old filly Ollie Olga, who won the Prestige St. (Gr.3)

last year and is entered in both the 1000 Guineas and the Prix de Diane. Consigned by Hawthorn Villa Stud,

lot 49 is a Diamond Green three parts brother to Mazameer, winner of the Prix de Cabourg

(Gr.3) and entered in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket as well as the Poule d’Essai des Poulains, while

his dam Straight Miss is a sister to young stallion Naaqoos. Irish consignor Mocklershill will bring 15

the catalogue. The last named is currently in the limelight in Australia and New Zealand, thanks to two

of his first two year olds Charlie Boy and Charlestown, both Gr.2 placed, and will most notably be

represented by

lot 53 (consigned by The Channel Consignment), a sister to dual US Group 1 winner

Amorama.

Finally, six time Group 1 winner

be sold at a breeze up sale in Europe. The first is;

lot 13, a colt consigned by The Channel
