Vinery shuttler Myboycharlie (Danetime) celebrated his first group success as a stallion when 3YO colt Charlie Boy won impressively for trainer Gerald Ryan in the $220,000 Group 2 Danehill Stakes (1200m) at Flemington on Saturday.

This was Charlie Boy’s first stakes success and took his record to 2 wins & a placing (the Gr2 Silver Slipper Stakes) from 7 starts for $291,750 earnings.  He showed a lot of potential as a two year old and lived up to it at his first outing as a three year old.

Belmont Bloodstock purchased Charlie Boy’s dam Maritime privately in 2012 for long-time client and friend Graham Daws of Dawson Stud.  At the time of purchase Maritime was in foal to Canny Lad, she foaled a lovely filly to him in 2012 and was covered by Widden Stud’s Snippettson.  She has recently foaled a filly.

As mentioned above Charlie Boy was the first black type winner for Myboycharlie, he was quickly followed by Salai.  Two year old Salai won the Prix Etalons La Cauviniere (1600m), a listed race in France on Saturday night.
