The Joseph Pride trained MISS MARIELLE continues to go from strength to strength this preparation and added the $150,000 Group 2 STC Hill Stakes to her record.
MISS MARIELLE has proven to be an astute purchase. Belmont Bloodstock Agency paid $250,000 for the daughter of Encosta De Lago at this years William Inglis Easter Broodmare Sale. She had been covered by Danehill Dancer last season but failed to conceive so it was decided to changer her environment and send her to Joseph Pride at Warwick Farm.
After an inglorious debut for her new connections when she finished last at Randwick on a heavy track, Miss Marielle has not stopped improving since. At her next run she ran an improved 3rd to Altered Boy and then followed up with an encouraging 2nd to inform Moti in the Listed AJC Toy Show Quality Stakes. Stepping up to weight for age in the Group 2 AJC Chelmsford Stakes she ran a terrific second to exciting O’Lonhro. She followed on this consistent form line into the Group 2 Hill Stakes where aided by a terrific rails hugging ride by Peter Robl proved too strong in the end to defeat Pacino and Roman Emperor.
Since her purchase Miss Marielle has earnt $152,800 and added a prestigious Group 2 win to significantly increase her broodmare value.
Congratulations and all credit go to Tom Kelly for his inspired decision to give Miss Marielle a campaign before going to stud and we thank Tom for his continued support.
