Young stallion LEGION started off with a bang at Terang on 2nd March with his first ever runner FOREIGN CHRISTMAS saluting the judge with an impressive win in the 1000m 2yo maiden.
The filly trained by Roberta McLeod at Colac struck trouble and lost ground at the 600m when tightened for room by another runner however picked herself up to score by just under a length.
It was a touch of history repeating with Legion also a soft debut winner kicking off his short racing career with a 3.5 length victory at Sale for Lee Freedman.
LEGION a regally bred son of REDOUTE’S CHOICE is a half brother to champion sire, the late GENERAL NEDIYM who sired 23 stakes winners in his career including the champion filly REGIMENTAL GAL
BELMONT BLOODSTOCK negotiated the purchase of LEGION to Victorian Stallion Partnership and he now stands at Larneuk Stud on the outskirts of Euroa for $4400.
