Longrain brings a little bit of New York to Melbourne. Located in the heart of Chinatown, this converted warehouse is a great space. You could be in a scene from Sex And The City as it attracts of the glam or wannabe glam Melbourne types.

Longrain is a modern thai restaurant we recently visited for a mate’s 40th birthday and started with betel leaf topped with prawn peanut roasted coconut and ginger. We then had an assortment of shared dishes. Slow cooked peanut curry of beef, green curry of chicken, thai eggplants with bamboo and basil, braised veal with mint coriander and chilli salad were the highlights. The flavours are complex and sensational and the food delicious.

There is a real buzz to this place, beware it’s very noisy and not for the hard at hearing. On the Saturday of my visit we had a DJ playing in the background. The cocktail list is great and the wine list very detailed.

Lots of fun, not cheap and preferable to find a sponsor but worth it for a fun night out!
