We happened to be wandering down Swan Street Richmond recently when we stumbled across NOIR a brand new restaurant and decided to book in and try the next week when we had visitors from London staying.
Initially booked in for Wednesday night but had to cancel after several phone calls as my flight was late getting back from Sydney. When I rang the next day they recognised my voice, an instant feel good start.
The restaurant is a dark non-descript frontage but a real gem once inside. The staff are incredibly efficient, very friendly, warm and took the time to make recommendations and explain each course or menu item.
They have a chefs surprise tasting menu which comprises 7 courses of the chefs choice. Our party of 5 decided that could be a bit much so we chose off the beautifully hand written menu.
The food was amazing; beautifully presented and fantastially balanced. NOIR is BYO at the moment which makes it great value. Main courses are around the $35 mark and entrees range from $12-$17.
This restaurant only sits around 40 people and is dark and intimate without being intimidating.
This is the best new place in Richmond and I guarantee will be booked out very quickly, so get in early! I loved it.
