Beautifully bred 3yo filly TRANQUILITY was an impressive winner at Belmont Park at only her 4th race start.
Purchased by Belmont Bloodstock Agency at the 2008 Sydney Easter Yearling Sales for $300,000 for long time clients and friends Bob & Sandra Peters, TRANQUILITY will now be set for some black type races.
Trained by Jim Taylor, TRANQUILITY was allowed to settle well back and was 12th on the corner, coming with a great run down the outside to win running away by half a length. The 1600m distance was ideal and she gives the impression that she will improve as the distances increase.
Bred by Bellagio Lodge of Queensland, TRANQUILITY has an interesting pedigree. She is by champion sire Redoute’s Choice out of the stakeswinner Creatrix, a daughter of Umatilla.
Redoute’s Choice and Umatilla are from the same pedigree so TRANQUILITY carries a 3 x 3 double cross of the superior broodmare DANCING SHOW. A daughter of the great Nijinsky, Dancing Show is considered a blue hen producing the two Group 1 winners and sires, Hurricane Sky and Umatilla, and being the grand dam of Group 1 winners and sires Redoute’s Choice, Al Maher, Platinum Scissors and Manhattan Rain.
TRANQUILITY’S sire Redoute’s Choice is actually a nephew of the sire of her dam, Umatilla!
Her dam CREATRIX was a stakeswinner in WA of the Listed Belmont Guineas and had a yearling filly by Flying Spur that Belmont Bloodstock purchased for $50,000 at the Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale for Western Australian owners Bill Rigg and Tony & Liz Freebairn. They will no doubt be hoping for Tranquillity to gain some black type. CREATRIX has since foaled a 2009 colt by Fastnet Rock.
Congratulations to Bob & Sandra Peters on the win of TRANQUILITY.
